Romo’s Review: I Love You, Man
Starring: Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones.
Directed By: John Hamburg
Theatrical Release: March 20 2009
“FUNNY”, “GREAT”, “AMAZING” are all words that were used to describe this new movie starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segel.
I was lucky enough to win four tickets to see the Montreal Premiere of I Love You, Man. Since it was a movie about guys, and what may be called a “Bromance”, I decided to tag along three of my close buddies to watch along by my side.
After such comedies as 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Role Models, Paul Rudd has made himself into a strong comedic actor. His fellow friend and co-star Jason Segel has also found success with his last movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and his TV sitcom How I Met You Mother. This movie follows Peter Klaven, played by Rudd, who is a real estate agent who has always been a girl’s best friend. Throughout his life, Peter hardly drank alcohol and the thought of masturbation rarely crossed his mind. When the time came to appoint a “best man” for his wedding with Zooey, played by Rashida Jones, Peter didn’t have anybody. We don’t realise but finding a best friend is harder than finding the right woman. Peter is now stuck with going on dates with gay, straight, and weird men. Once he finds Sydney Fife, played by Jason Segel, Peter starts acting more like a man and starts doing things that he has never done before. Sydney helps Peter not only fill the whole in his friend relationship, but also helps Peter find his true self.
The on-screen tag team of these two actors is pure laughter and should be seen by everybody. The jokes come natural and are vivid throughout the whole movie. This movie is complete with jokes, nonsense, goofs and adventure.
If you’re feeling down and need something that will bring you back up to par, this is the perfect movie to see.
