No More UberTwitter… For Now
If you’ve been wondering why you can’t acces UberTwitter, a popular Twitter client, from your phone, then you are not the only one. The application, along with twidroyd and UberCurrent, was suspended for violating Twitter’s policy.
Beginning yesterday, Twitter sent out this message:
Every day, we suspend hundreds of applications that are in violation of our policies. Generally, these apps are used by a small number of users. We are taking the unusual step of sharing this with you because today’s suspension may affect a larger number of users.
Among the violations; “a privacy issue with private Direct Messages longer than 140 characters, trademark infringement, and changing the content of users’ Tweets in order to make money.”
Twitter suggests downloading the official Twitter app if you’ve been inconvenienced by the shutting down of these clients.
Update: UberTwitter sent out this tweet today: “we have made the changes Twitter requested. As soon as Twitter reactivates, you will be live again. Thx!”
